ASE

You've probably seen the ASE designation in reference to our shop's technicians. Still, perhaps you're not sure exactly what that means for you. at German Sport in Walnut Creek, California, we're not only staffed by ASE-certified technicians but also happy to explain why that makes a difference for you. The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence--typically identified in short form as ASE--was formed in 1972. It's a non-profit group dedicated to credentialing mechanics to raise the level of vehicle services and repairs. Given our commitment to excellence in European auto repair, we're proud to partner with ASE to benefit our clients.

ASE-Certification

ASE-certified technicians are not just anyone. They are individuals who have met specific requirements, including at least two years of auto service/repair experience or a two-year degree plus one year of relevant experience. They have passed rigorous testing for initial certification and continue to pass recertification testing every five years. These comprehensive tests are not easy, with only 2/3 of applicants passing on their first attempt. A mechanic may choose to pursue credentialing in one or more of the following areas: Engine Repair, Automatic Transmission/Transaxle, Manual Drivetrain & Axles, Suspension & Steering, Brakes, Electrical/Electronic Systems, Heating & Air Conditioning, Engine Performance, and/or Light Vehicle Diesel Engines. Candidates who successfully certify in all areas except diesel are granted Master-certified status. A Master-certified technician is not required to complete the ninth test. When you entrust your vehicle to an ASE-certified mechanic, you're assured that the person performing the work has the expertise needed to complete high-quality work. Further, you may save time and money by selecting a provider with ASE credentials because they can more quickly and accurately identify any problems that need addressing.
